The 11th Annual Fall Classic Farmer's Spiel will be held November 1 to 3, 2018 in Mallaig.  They are requesting cash to help cover expenses or items to be used as prizes.  Registration for the spiel is $160.

Attached is a letter from Kim Farrell, owner of Lot 17, Block 1, Plan 7620518, in response to the County's letters from May 14th and August 20.

On May 14th, she received a letter from the County advising that she needed a permit for her bunkhouse, based on information provided to Planning and Development by the County Assessors.  She applied for the permit but Planning and Development has not processed the permit.

The Assessors also notified the taxation department that the structures were on reserve land.  The County's Surveyors confirmed the location of the structures on the reserve land.  Administration then issued a letter directing her to remove the cabin, 2 sheds and hot tub from Lot 43R, Block 1, Plan 7620518.

Mrs. Farrell has contacted Councillor Hedrick and is requesting that her buildings be permitted to say on the environmental reserve.

Attached is a letter from Bill Simon, owner of Lot 28, Block 1, Plan 7620518, in response to the County's letter of August 20th directing that he remove the boathouse and eavestrough on the shed which are encroaching on Lot 43R, Block 1, Plan 7620518.

Mr. Simon has contacted Councillor Hedrick and is requesting that the County:

  • Grandfather the buildings in
  • Issue an Encroachment Agreement
  • Survey the portions out and add them to the existing properties
