FCM in partnership with the Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources, has announced the Community Infrastructure Partnership Project, which is a natioanl pilot program focused on First Nations-municipal joint solid waste management and is being funded by Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada. It is an 18-month initiative to enhance the capacity of participating First Nations and adjacent municipalities to develop and implement joint solid waste management municipal type service agreement (MTSA). This project will provide tools to support First Nation-municipal waste partnerships and facilitate the development of equitable and sustainable MTSA.
Additional information about the grant can be viewed at https://www.fcm.ca/home/programs/community-infrastructure-partnership-project.htm.
Administration is recommending that the County submit an application for a grant under the Community Infrastructure Partnership Project in partnership with Saddle Lake, Kehewin and Frog Lake (and possibly Goodfish Lake) for funding to develop and implement joint solid waste management municipal type service agreements (MTSA).
