Attached is a copy of a presentation prepared by McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. which provides an overview of the project’s purpose, goals, approach, and timelines.   Krystle Fedoretz will be in to speak to Council about the presentation.  We also require resolutions to appoint members to sit on each IDP Advisory Committee.

We need to purchase 1 hectare – 2.47 acres of land on SE-14-60-10-W4 for a new communications tower to provide for radio communications between Ashmont and Mallaig for the SCADA system for the waterline.  Our pre-discussions with the landowners was $2,000 per acre.  We also will need to cover the cost of the subdivision for the land.  Additionally, it is anticipated that the County will construct the approach and level the area and gravel the tower site.  We will be paid through the contractor for this work – as it will be covered under the grant.

MCSNet will be interested in using the tower as well.  Also potential to use for Fire and PW communications.

Attached is a letter to the Minister of Municipal Affairs expressing the County's concerns with the Linear Assessment Year Modifiers.

Does Council want to meet with K division during the AAMDC Convention?

The new Staff Sgt Cory Blize, is requesting if Council wants to have one-on-one meetings with him or a group meeting with him at the detachment.

The Reconciliation St. Paul group will be hosting a play produced by Theatre for Living, which allows audience members to participate and contribute in resolving relationship conflicts and issues with diverse groups of people.  The play will build on community cohesiveness and reconciliation.  The proposed budget for the play is $3,550.00.

The organizing committee is requesting a donation of $500 to help offset their costs.

As an incentive for residents to complete the Regional Recreation Survey, the municipalities have agreed to donate one item each to be used for a draw.  Residents who complete the survey can also return a draw entry form which will not be reported in connection with the responses they provided.

Indigenous Relations would like to continue their dialogue in February to hear feedback on addressing the common policy issues discussed in October and November 2017, including cumulative effects management, enhanced capacity funding, and possible legislation.  A full day session has been scheduled for February 8 in Calgary or February 12 in Edmonton.  Indigenous Relations' senior leadership and Assistant Deputy Minister, Stan Rutwind will be present.
